I’m not privy to the attitude of every person in Sweden because there are 10.5 million of us.

But since Putin started his “special military operation”, our government has sent military, humanitarian and financial aid totalling SEK 71.3 billion (as of Jan 2025), given asylum to 50,000 Ukrainian refugees, joined NATO and sent a batallion troops with all the necessary kit to Latvia. In other words, the vast majority of us think what Putin is doing in Ukraine is a fcuking disgrace, though like everywhere else in the “Western” world, there are a few dissenting voices with a variety of persuasions, some of whom troll around under assumed names on Swedish Quora.

But sending boots on the ground to fight in Ukraine itself is another matter. That would be a declaration of war against the Russian Federation. Hopefully it won’t come to that. NATO is primarily a defensive organization. We’ll have to see how it pans out.
